000We need help to clear a space for a new family garden for sick kiwi children and their families for Ronald McDonald House Auckland
Our new ‘family garden’ project will provide our families with a much-needed outdoor space away from the hospital. A peaceful, natural setting to sit and reflect or temporarily focus on something other than the illness of their sick child. And for seriously ill children, who often stay with us, this garden will provide an extremely powerful antidote to the clinical environment of the hospital.
We need 4-5 volunteers to assist with our garden clean up. A degree of physical work and some heavy lifting will be required. This volunteer clean up project will be overseen by our landscape designer
How this project will benefit the community
Last year we provided shelter and support to 9,366 kiwis with desperately ill children. We are a 'home away from home' for families who must travel to Auckland because the medical treatment their child needs is not available in their community.
The family garden is a community fundraising initiative to assist families staying at the House to cope at such a difficult time in their lives by providing a dedicated outdoor space to sit and reflect.
We are over ¾ of the way to reaching our target of $40,000 and construction will begin once the remaining funds have been raised
