000Developing a Native Tree Public Reserve on public land off Waireka Place, Moana Point Whangamata.
560 Kauris plus about 400 other native trees and shrubs have been planted on this reserve over the last 10 years and tracks have been cut through the bush and drains installed.
The work required is removal of wattle seedlings, place carpet surrounds around the Kauri and other native trees planted this year and to clear the tracks of pine branches.
How this project will benefit the community
This project is designed to give the public a place near town where they can relax in a bush environment and learn about the different native trees grown on the Coromandel. When completed to our present proposal it will also provide a place where the public will be able to have picnics celebrate weddings or similar types of activities.
