What is Closed for Good?
Closed for Good is BNZ’s annual day of volunteering. We close our stores and most of our support offices on the day and get out into New Zealand communities to lend a hand.

How to get your banking done on 23 August 2017
BNZ stores and most offices will be closed for the day whilst our staff are out in the community making the biggest difference they can. All stores and offices will be open as usual the following day.

We support a wide range of projects that benefit communities across NZ
FINANCIAL LITERACY HELP
BNZ is committed to helping New Zealanders be good with money. During Closed for Good our trained staff visit organisations, groups and schools to deliver workshops on budgeting, being scam savvy or money basics for kids.
Our staff have a broad range of skills to help organisations grow, solve a problem or create a plan. We can help with HR, finance, marketing, digital, social media and strategy to name a few.
Sometimes the best thing we can do to help you be good with money is get something done that would otherwise cost your community organisation hard-earned money. We're at the ready with helping hands.
WHAT WE CAN HELP YOU WITH
- Everything we mention above and probably more! If you have something that needs doing, let us know.
- We can provide many volunteer hands to help. You just need to provide the tools and materials to get the job done.
WHAT WE CAN’T HELP YOU WITH
- Any project that benefits commercial organisations, individuals, or political/extreme groups.
- Any project that hasn’t had local council or government approval if necessary.
- Any project in breach of NZ law.
- Any project that does not support BNZ’s mission to be the Bank for New Zealand or align with BNZ’s policies and guidelines.
How does Closed for Good work?
1. YOU SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT
Submissions for 2017 are now closed.
2. WE CHECK THE DETAILS
If your project ticks all the boxes we publish it on our volunteer website.
3. PROJECTS ARE CONFIRMED
Our BNZ volunteers can sign up to your project from 24 July. We’ll be in touch by 12 August to confirm the project has attracted your minimum number of volunteers and a leader.
4. WE HELP YOU OUT!
Our staff are passionate about the projects they choose to volunteer on so you will get an enthusiastic team that is raring to go on 23 August.
On Wednesday 23 August we won't be bankers, instead we'll be giving back to our local communities.
We’ve lent our helping hands to more than 2,500 projects over seven years and 2017 is no different.
