The Rules for Closed for Good

By using this site you agree to be bound by these terms:

  • General Information: The information on this site is for general information only. Although every effort has been made to ensure that the information is current and accurate, the information is selective and may not be complete or suitable for your intended use.

  • Subject to Change: The information on this site may be changed at any time without notice. These terms and conditions are in addition to and do not replace any terms and conditions for BNZ accounts, products or services.

  • Liability: Subject to any applicable law which cannot be excluded and to all provisions implied by statute which cannot be excluded, BNZ accepts no responsibility for any loss, damage, cost or expense (whether direct or indirect) incurred by you as a result of any error, omission or misrepresentation in any information in this site or our failure to provide this site.

  • No Deemed Consent: Publication of email addresses should not be taken as deemed consent to receiving unsolicited email.

Project Submission Rules

There is no limit to the number of projects you can submit. Submissions close on 7 July 2017. Submissions received after this date will be ineligible. BNZ reserves the right to verify the validity of submissions. Submissions will be promoted in print and online media such as, but not limited to,,,,, and Closed for Good email updates.

Selection of projects

  • What we cannot help you with: *

  • We cannot accept projects that benefit commercial organisations, individuals, or political/extreme groups

  • We cannot accept anything that hasn’t had local council or government approval if necessary

  • We cannot accept anything in breach of NZ law

  • We cannot accept anything that does not support BNZ’s mission to be the Bank for New Zealand or align with BNZ’s policies and guidelines

* Please note that any decision regarding the selection of projects is at the sole discretion of BNZ and no correspondence will be entered into. Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email or phone. The successful projects will be chosen by BNZ in its absolute discretion before or by 11 August 2017. These projects will be published on the staff Closed for Good website in late July.

Content and intellectual property

Your submission must not contain any material which is indecent, inappropriate, derogatory, infringes any third party’s intellectual property rights, or is otherwise contrary to the law. Your submission becomes (to the extent permitted by law) the property of BNZ once you have submitted it. BNZ is the proprietor or has the right to use the copyright, trade marks and all other intellectual property rights in all software, text, graphics and other material displayed, on, or available through, the Closed for Good website.

Personal information and privacy

Your personal information is collected in order to allow BNZ to conduct Closed for Good and to contact you via email, text message, an online facility, by telephone or post, with information concerning your submission and Closed for Good generally. Read full privacy statement.

By submitting your project submission you agree that:

  • BNZ may publish your city of residence, the name of the organisation the project is to benefit, the content of your submission and any statement made by you concerning your submission and BNZ may use any of the same for promotional and/or media purposes;

  • BNZ may publish any images, footage or interviews taken by BNZ while carrying out the project, if your submission is successful, and BNZ may use any of the same for promotional and/or media purposes;

  • You have, or will (if your submission is successful), obtain any third party consents and permits required to undertake your project e.g. landlord consents, school consents, Department of Conservation consents, local body consents, building permits etc;

  • You will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the safety of working on your project and, you agree to fulfill all health and safety obligations reasonably requested by BNZ.

  • Any services or advice provided by the volunteers, on the Closed for Good day, are provided by them in their personal capacity only and BNZ is not responsible for those services or advice.

  • BNZ and its staff will not be liable, in contract, tort or otherwise, for any damage, loss (regardless of whether or not that loss is direct or indirect, the cause of such loss or whether BNZ or its staff have been advised of the possibility of such loss), or personal injury, however suffered, which is related to, or results from, your submission, participation in Closed for Good or use of this website.

  • BNZ may contact you prior to the day to discuss the scope of the project and/or arrange a time for a health and safety visit. BNZ will take all practicable steps to ensure its employees and community members will be in a safe and healthy environment during their voluntary work in the community, by requesting the voluntary working sites to have a satisfactory health and safety standard.

  • BNZ reserves the right to postpone, or cancel the Closed for Good event for any reason.

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
